I have been raising and showing rabbits for 25 years and their are several things that really annoy me. One is when breeders talk bad about other breeders. I have had breeders say things to me like "Don't buy from them, they always have sick rabbits" or "I will never sell to them because they always beat me", or "I will never be at the same show as ... because their rabbits will make mine sick". I have also seen breeders base prices depending on who is buying the rabbit. Some people get charged more because the seller doesn't like the buyer. I feel that prices should be based on the quality of the animal, NOT the buyer. I also get annoyed with the attitude some people have when they lose. I have seen some breeders lose in the first show only to scratch all entries for the second show, load the vehicle and leave or they stay and have an attitude for the rest of the day. Come on people. You can't win every show! Rabbit shows to me are not as enjoyable as they were 20 years ago but I will never quit showing. I enjoy it to much to quit. It's just that certain breeders need to grow up and realize that it's just a hobby and it's supposed to be fun.
We went to the Macon County Fair on 8/3/13. It wasn't sanctioned for English Lops but we went with friends and had a BLAST. The 2013 miss Macon County Beauty Pagent was going on at the same time. She is 18 and and came over to the show in her dress and posed for pictures with our English Lop Nelson's Lavender. She is going on to compete for Miss Tennessee. Good luck and hope you win. The Demolition Derby was also going on at the same time so our son got to see his first one and thought it was really cool and wanted to drive!
Our daughter's doe Nelson's Sweet Tea won Best of breed at 11 weeks old and recieved her first grand champion leg. Congrations baby. You beat Sandy, Mom and Dad!!!!! and I wanted to sell this doe. She wouldn't let me. |
